April 13, 2008 MEETING MINUTES

 

The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman’s Club, was brought to order by President Rich Leis.  The Treasurer’s report and the minutes from the meeting held on March 9th were read and both were approved as read. 

 

REPORTS GIVEN:

  • Ditch clean up was rescheduled to May 4th @ 11:00am.  Thanks to all that help!
  • April Birthdays and anniversaries were announced
  • ATV poker-run will be held on May 17, 2008. sign in from 10am to 11:30am  and time to be back will be 5pm.

§         The starting and ending place will be at Rustic Haven with 9 stops.

§         The Southside shuttle is reporting as working well.  Please use the facility and be safe.  The schedule is in the “Steppin Out” paper.

§     THANKS to all who have renewed and paid their annual membership.  If you still haven’t sent your membership in please do so today not to miss out on any further newsletters or Fun this summer.  Your membership needs to be paid to attend the summer functions.

§      Jeff Snellenberger gave a report on the Golf outing with the Hog Roast to be held on June 21st.  Tee time will be @ 10:00am and we will eat at 4:00pm.  Golf outing will be limited to 18 teams and you must prepay guarantee you team spot due to last minute cancellations and No-Shows from last year.

§      The date for the Bayou Bash is tentatively set for July 19th.

§      Election Results:  Dennis Stolzenburg will be the new trustee.  The remainder of the offices remained the same. 

Club drawing name pulled was Luke & Amy Ruane, who was present at the meeting, and won $30.00.  50/50 drawing was worth $51.00 and won by Scott Neikamp.

The members present enjoyed Pizza from Duck Foot furnished by Scott Neikamp, Brad Fisher, & Jason Plattner.

IMPORTANT DATES – MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

 

Ø  MAY 17 – POKER RUN   sign up from 10:00am to 11:30am starting @ Rustic Haven

Ø  JUNE 21 – GOLF OUTING & HOG ROAST:   shot-gun start @ 10:00am at ArrowHead Golf Club, Minster, Oh.  The hog will be served at approximately 4:00pm.  All members need to bring a covered dish.  The meat and drinks will again be furnished by the club.

Ø  JULY 19 – BOAT BAYOU BASH:  the final details will be planned at the hog roast

Ø  AUGUST 23 – CORN ROAST & CHICKEN BARBEQUE:   Come early and be challenged at the Croquet tournament.  Food will be served at 4:00pm.  All members need to bring a covered dish.  Meat and drinks will be furnished by the club.

Ø  SEPTEMBER  14 – MEETING:      Sportsman’s Club at 2:00 pm.

Ø  OCTOBER 12 – MEETING:           Sportsman’s Club at 2:00 pm.

Ø  NOVEMBER 9 – MEETING:       Sportsman’s Club at 2:00 pm.

Ø  CHRISTMAS MEETING – 14th:    Sportsman’s Club at 2:00 pm.  Meat furnished bring covered dish.

 

 

March 9th, 2008 MEETING MINUTES         

            The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman's Club, was brought to order by President Rich Leis.  The Treasurer's report and the minutes from the meeting held on February10th were read and both were approved as read. 

Reports given:
Next meeting April 13, 2008 will be elections of new officers
Ditch clean up is the morning of April 13, 2008 @ noon before the meeting
Birthdays and anniversaries were announced
ATV poker run to be held on May 17, 2008. Sign in from 10am to 11:30am  and time to be back will be 5pm.
The starting and ending place will be at Rustic Haven
There will be 8 stops total: Rustic, Duckfoots, Bayview pub, Bayview sun & snow, Shingle shack, M & S accessories, Town tavern, & Shirleys.  At 5pm when all return, we will then do the door prizes, winner, and all drawings.
We discussed the shuttle that runs to 8 different location thru out coldwater and Montezuma . It is $10.00 a person and has a time schedule, you can pick up schedules at the local establishments that are participating
The club drawing name pulled was Ben Bonifas who was not present at the meeting, so the April drawing will be worth $30.00.
 The 50/50 drawing was worth $17.00 and won by Darlene Craig
 The members present enjoyed a meal of homemade beef & noodles, mashed potatoes, & corn made by Angie Leis and Darlene Craig, with dinner rolls brought by Rick Ferguson.
 The April meeting the food will be prepared by Scott Neikamp, Brad Fisher, & Jason Plattner.

February 10th, 2008 MEETING MINUTES         

            The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by President Rich Leis.  The Treasurer�s report and the minutes from the meeting held on January 20th were read and both were approved as read. 

          The club welcomed the new members Luke Ruane and his wife to Amy to the club.

REPORTS GIVEN:

The ATV Poker run will be discussed and begin planning at the meeting on March 9th.

Jeff Snellenberger reported on 2 locations for a possible snowmobile club ride next year.  A house & motel rooms in Seney and houses near Trout lake (Ellis lodge).  It was decided to pick a location and date this summer.

Golf tournament�Jeff reported that member Jim & Dick Kohne will help him with golf outing that will be held with the hog roast on June 21st. 

Tom Gottschall reported he had new safety vest for the ditch clean-ups.

DATES FOR DITCH CLEAN-UP:

April 13th---Noon,  June 29th----11:00am,  Aug 24th-----11:00am,  Oct. 12th-----Noon

OSSA membership forms to join the state membership and to get the magazine are available to any member.  The cost is $10.00.  Contact Jane for info & form.  It was decided that the club should remain members of both the OSSA & the MSA.

President Rich Leis read the names of birthdays and anniversaries for the month Feb posted on the web site calendar.  Any additions or corrections, please contact Jane.

The Club drawing of $10 name drawn was Betty & Rick Eilerman Not present.  Next month's drawing will be $20.

The meeting was then adjourned motion by Steve Zimmerman and 2nd by Tom Scheib. The members present were served an awesome meal of Johnny marzetti and a salad prepared by Peggy Gottschall.  Food for next month will be made by Angie Leis and Darlene Craig.

 JANUARY 20, 2008 MEETING MINUTES         

            The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by Vice President Ed Waldman.  The Treasurer�s report and the minutes from the meeting held on December 9th were read and both were approved as read. 

          Club thanks everyone who donated any gifts for the Christmas drawing and for all the wonderful food the members brought.

The club welcomed Pam & Craig Riesen back into the club as members.

REPORTS GIVEN:

    Unfortunately, there was no snow at Houghton Lake and most went home early.  It was brought to the attention of the club some potential new members wanted to know about any future trips that the club might plan.  Jeff Snellenberger & Gene Leis volunteered to check into the possibilities of having a club ride next year and a new location.

    The ice was about 4� on the channels

    Tom Gottschall volunteered to put together a poker run if the lake and weather cooperated.

    Brad Fisher told the club members present about his experience with going thru the ice last year.  He also is a member of the St. Mary�s Fire Dept and was going to check on any safety videos he could bring to the next meeting.

    Tom  Gottschall informed the club the new Ditch cleanup sign had been installed.  It now reads Grand Cake Recreation Club.

DATES FOR DITCH CLEAN-UP:

    Dennis Stolzenburg reported that he had no new safety classes schedule. 

    Gene Leis informed snowmobilers about the new Sylvania Silver Star Ultra light bulb to enhance visibility at night while riding.  It definitely is brighter.

    It was decided since so many members would on the cruise next month that the election of officers would be at the April 13th meeting.  Tom Gottschall made the motion and Jeff Snellenberger 2nd the motion. 

    There is a strong interest in having another ATV poker run.  A committee will be set up at the next meeting to plan a poker run for the spring.

    Anyone interested there will be a Polar Plunge at the Moose on March 2nd.

    Jane has contacted the OSSA to send us membership forms to join the state membership and to get the magazine.  They do have a web site:  www.firstgearmedia.com/OSSA

    The Hog Roast will be held on June 21 and Jeff Snellenberger volunteered to spear-head the golf outing again.  Monies must be paid upfront to hold a team due to the last minute no-shows last year.

    Ed Waldman said he would barbeque chicken again at the corn roast on Aug 16th.  Gene Leis and Steve Zimmerman will again be charge of the Croquet Tournamnent.

 DECEMBER 9, 2007 MEETING MINUTES         

The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by President Rich Leis.  The Treasurer�s report and the minutes from the  meeting held on October 14th were read and both were approved as read. 

 

The Chili Cook was held on November 10th at Rich and Angie Leis�s home.  Everyone attending had a good time and enjoyed the chili and covered dishes brought by attending members.

 

$20 worth of OSSA raffel tickets were purchased by the club.  Any winnings will be raffeld by the club as a fund raiser.

 

Three new members were introduced to the club: Brad Fisher, Scott Neikamp and Jason Platner.

Rich Leis reported that Nancy Toms from the American Legion had contacted him in regards to needing help to deliver baskets to the needy.  Since it was too late this year it was decided to help next year in the deliveries.  The club was informed that Tom Gottschall donated $62 to Shirley�s Bars needy basket fundraiser this year.  Thanks Tom!

 

Following a short meeting, the annual Christmas exchange proceeded with 10 members winning prizes donated by the club and members.  Denny Liet's name was drawn for the club drawing.  He was not present so $10 will carry-over to the January meeting.

 

The meeting was then adjourned and the members present enjoyed a meal with ham furnished by the club and many great covered dishes brought in by the club members.

OCTOBER 14, 2007 MEETING MINUTES

          The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by President Rich Leis.  The Treasurer�s report and the minutes from the last meeting held on September 9th were read and both were approved as read.

OLD BUSINESS

  1. President, Rich Leis gave a reported at this time there would be no ATV Poker Runs scheduled for this Fall.
  2. Liz Leis reported on the T-shirts & Sweatsirts she still had available and the shirts that she had for pick-up.  Since it was Liz�s Birthday she was presented with cards and a surprise gift that was one of a kind.
  3. Jane Snellenberger updated everyone on the Cruise plans for the March 2nd sailing and reminded everyone that they needed a passport to leave the US.  The final payment is due by December 12th.
  4. The calendar has been added on the web site for all upcoming events along with Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Anyone that has an entry to put on the calendar please contact Jane.
  5. The Chili Cook committee held a meeting and the following was decided.

a.       Cooking will start at Noon on Nov. 10th

b.      Food served will be chili & hotdogs and of course beverages will be provided.

c.       Chili will be served at 4:00 pm

d.      THINGS TO BRING

                                                               i.      Lawn chairs

                                                             ii.      Covered Dish---Snack or relish tray in the afternoon or dessert dish or dish to go with CHILI.

e.       Hill-Billy golf and Bean Bag games will be played.

f.        The November Meeting will be held at 6:00pm

g.       It was suggested to have name tags to get to know all the new members.  Liz Leis volunteered to bring name tags.

h.       A map to Rich & Angie Leis�s home will be included in the newsletter and on the web site.

  1. Tom Gottschall reported on the Stump Search.  Nearly 80 stumps have been marked and removed from the Lake.  Brian Miller had reports that 13 stumps had pieces of props in them and 1 stump had an entire prop.  Included on the team are:  Tom Gottschall, Tom Scheib, Carl Schroeder, Gary Schwieterman, Bill Mangen.  Special thanks to these guys for their efforts on improving the Lake �For Safe Recreation�!  The web site has pictures of the guys at work.

NEW BUSINESS

 

  1. Rick Ferguson reported that there would be a ride in the Wayne National Forrest on October 17th for anyone interested in riding.
  2. Dennis Stolzenburg will be doing an ATV safety class for the Girl Scouts On October 20th at 1:00pm.  Tom Gottschall and Tom Scheib will assist him.  Attending will be girl scouts from Coldwater, St. Henry, New Bremen, & Minster.  Pictures and a report will be on the web site.  (www.grandlakerec.org )     Good Job Dennis!
  3. Bay View Sun & Snow will have there Swap meet on Oct. 20 & 21 from 9-5.

Tom Gottschall received the renewal for the Ditch Clean-up.  He will complete the submission along with the name change to Grand Lake Recreation Club.

  1. Tom Woodward inquired about the Houghton Lake trip in January.  Judy Haley volunteered to call and get information on availability.  Everyone will have to make their own reservations.

 SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2007 MEETING MINUTES

         The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by incoming President Rich Leis.  The Treasurer�s report and the minutes from the last meeting held on April 22nd were read and both were approved as read.  There were 61 members present.

THE FOLLOWING REPORTS WERE GIVEN:

            President, Rich Leis gave a report on the ATV poker run that was held last April 21st.

Jeff Snellenberger gave a report on the Golf Outing held in conjunction with the hog roast.  Both were successful for the club.  An ATV Poker Run was also discussed for this fall.  A date will be discussed at the October meeting.  President Rich Leis asked for members to think about fund raiser ideas for next year.

            Rick Ferguson gave a report on the Wayne National Forrest ATV ride held in July.

Jane Snellenberger updated everyone on the Cruise plans for the March 2nd sailing.

Tom Gottschall informed everyone about the Bayou Bash held on June 16th and how much fun was had by all attended and the entertainment for the evening.

Liz Leis gave a report on the new T-shirts availability and the shirts Sales that she had for pick-up.

Dennis Stolzenburg will again be doing an ATV safety class for the Girl Scouts.

Jane Snellenberger will be adding a calendar on the web site for all upcoming events along with Member birthdays and anniversary.  Anyone with info for the calendar or site, contact Jane.

Following the meeting, an Appreciation Roast was given to Past President, Tom Gottschall for the years of service to the club.  (10yrs plus)  Everyone enjoyed a video display presented by Jane Snellenberger on the �Best of Gottschall�Time for 1 quick one� which can also be seen on the web site along with pictures from the meeting.   www.grandlakerec.org.

 

Food provided by Jane Snellenberger and Nan Scheib:  Barbeque beef sandwiches, chips, veggie tray and a wonderful cake with Gottschall�s picture on it was served to the members present.

APRIL 22, 2007 MEETING MINUTES

          The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by President Tom Gottschall.  The Treasurer�s report and the minutes from the last meeting held on March 11th, were read and both were approved as read.

THE FOLLOWING REPORTS WERE GIVEN:

            DITCH CLEAN UP: 

DITCH CLEAN-UP HELD ON MEETING DAYS WILL BEGIN AT NOON. 

NON-MEETING DAYS the DITCH CLEAN-UP will begin at 11:00 AM. 

Thanks to everyone who helped on the 22nd. 

Remaining dates for clean-up are JUNE 24-(11:00), AUGUST 26-(11:00), OCTOBER 14-(NOON).  Tom Gottschall reported the contract with the sign will be due in October of 2007 and at that time he will apply to have the name changed on the sign.

ATV POKER RUN.   RICH LEIS sent an update for the ATV Poker run which will be held on April 28th.  The starting host for this ATV run will begin at the Town Tavern in Chickasaw.   It will be run on the same format as the last poker run.   Signs were made by Rick Ferguson and will be put out to assist the riders.  A sign up sheet was set out for anyone wanting to help that day.

HOG ROAST will be held on June 9th at Bass Landing.  The club will furnish the baked beans and potato salad.  Everyone else should bring another covered dish.  (Bring a little extra to cover the additional non-members from the golf outing)  Rick Ferguson will bring the buns donated by Aunt Millie�s

JEFF SNELLENBERGER will be in charge of the Golf Outing to be held with the Hog Roast on June 9th.  Jeff reported almost all the spots were already taken.  The outing will be held at Arrow Head Golf Course.  The awards and door prizes will be given before we eat.  The PIG should be finished and ready to eat at 4:00pm.

             RICK FERGUSON updated everyone on the information regarding the ride in the Wayne National Forrest.  The date will be July 12-14th.  Nine (9) sites have been set back for our group.  Anyone interested should call and make their own reservations. CONTACT: 740-753-0500  (Mention Grand Lake Recreation or Rick Ferguson) to book your site.  The primitive sites are $19 and need a 25% down payment to reserve.  A Bread and Breakfast Lodge is also available at the same phone number.  We will be able to ride as a group for anyone unfamiliar with the trails or ride on your own.

            IT�S TIME TO BOOK YOUR CRUISE RESERVATIONS!  The sailing date has been set for March 2, 2008 thru March 9th, 2008 out of Galveston, TX on the Carnival Conquest.  ROOMS HAVE BEEN RESERVED FOR OUR GROUP.  To be included in the special group rate you must book by May 4th, 2007 with $250 down per person.  The contact person is AMBER PRESSLEY @ 800-668-6414 ext: 144. 

DENNIS STOLZENBURG conducted an ATV SAFETY COURSE for kids March 26th.  Over 50 children attended the event.  4 wheelers ranged in size from the smallest to the largest and were used in the safety course to teach the kids about safety and 4-wheelers.  Dennis gave a report on the events activities.   It was such a success that the girl scouts of Coldwater and the Celina Boy Scouts have approached him to do an event for them.  JOB WELL DONE DENNIS!

1ST ANNUAL BAYOU BASH will be held June 16th. 

The location will be behind the Island at the Big Chickasaw any time after 6:00pm.  Bring your favorite tunes and finger food.  We will tie the boats together so we can all visit.  I heard mention we may even have an empty boat for a dance floor.  Tom Scheib promised to entertain us with his banjo. 

CORN ROAST & CHICKEN BARB-B-QUE is set for August 25th.   PLEASE try and contact one of the officers to get a head count for the chicken.  Our new Vice President will be doing the Bar-b-que chickens along with the corn roast.  There will be a Croquet Tournament held during the afternoon.  It will be spearheaded by Steve (Zip) Zimmerman and Gene Leis.  It will be run by CRUD RULES???.  Registration forms will be included with this newsletter.  WE WILL EAT @ 5:00pm.  PLEASE BRING A COVERED DISH.

SEPTEMBER 9TH WILL BE OUR FIRST MEETING   A motion was made by Darlene Craig and 2nd by Ed Waldman to have our first meeting in September since we were a year round club.  Impromptu meetings will be held at the Hog Roast and at the Corn Roast.

The name drawn for the Club drawing was Gene & Liz Leis who were present to win the drawing of $10.  and the 50-50 drawing of $46 also went to Gene & Liz Leis. 

The meeting was adjourned by President Tom Gottschall.  Toots Sherrick, Barb Barlage and Gretchen Zimmerman  served the attending members Bar-b-que beef sandwiches and chips.  Ed Waldman brought some awesome Deer sausage which he served earlier to the Clean-up Crew.   Peg Gottschall and Nan Scheib volunteered to bring food for the September 9th meeting.

MARCH 11, 2007 MEETING MINUTES

 

          The meeting of the Grand Lake Recreation Club was held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by President Tom Gottschall.  Treasurer�s report was given by  the treasurer, Tom Scheib.  The minutes from the last meeting were read by Secretary, Jane Snellenberger.  Both were approved.

 

REPORTS GIVEN:

 

            TOM GOTTSCHALL gave a report on the success of the Snowmobile & ATV Poker Run held on February 17th.  There were 119 entries and after pay out to the winners the club made $295.00.  The 50-50 drawing made $211and there was only about $20 turned in for expenses.

2nd Place:    Tom Homan, Portland, IN.                                 

3rd Place:     Shannon Hayes

RICH LEIS gave an update on the ATV Poker run.  The date will be April 28th , 2007 and it will start at the Town Tavern in Chickasaw.   It will be run on the same format as the last poker run.  A trial run will be made the last weekend in March.  Flyers will be and sent out and the flyer will be on the web page.

  

            RICK FERGUSON updated everyone on the information regarding the ride in the Wayne National Forrest.  He has contacted a Park Ranger but has not heard back from him.  A tentative date of July 12-14th has been set.  Peggy Gottschall suggested the women who were not riding all go on a shopping trip.

 

            JANE SNELLENBERGER gave an updated report on the Cruise being planned for sailing dates between February  24th and March 8th, 2008.  The final plans will be set by the next meeting. (April 22nd)

JEFF SNELLENBERGER will be in charge of the Golf Outing to be held with the Hog Roast on June 9th.  This will be a co-ed outing with �bankers Handicap� and will be limited to 18-4 person teams.  The outing will be held at the Arrowhead golf course.  Jeff will have flyers and entry forms at the next meeting.   

DENNIS STOLZENBURG will be conducting a safety course for kids on the last Monday of March (3-26-07).  The event will be held at the Holy Trinity church parking lot in Coldwater.  The Stolzenburg family were wearing shirts that they handcrafted themselves with the Grand Lake Rec logo.  LIZ LEIS will check into prices to have shirts and hats made.   

DITCH CLEAN-UP: April 22th, June 24th, August 26th and October 14th at 11:00 am.  The meeting place will again be at the Sportsman�s Club and refreshments will be available for anyone that helps.  The sign will be changed to read �Grand Lake Recreation Club� 

CORN ROAST & CHICKEN BARB-B-QUE is set for August 25th.  It was suggested that any members bringing guests to any of the functions send in an RSVP for them so we don�t run out of food.

The name drawn for the Club drawing was Ken Vonville who was present to win the drawing of $30. The 50-50 drawing of $46 went to Angie Leis.

FEBRUARY 11TH MEETING MINUTES

 

          The meeting of the Grand Lake Snow Dreamers held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by President Tom Gottschall.  Treasurer�s report was given by President Tom Gottschall in the absence of the treasurer, Tom Scheib.  The minutes from the last meeting were read by Secretary, Jane Snellenberger.  Both were approved.

 

REPORTS GIVEN:

 

            TOM GOTTSCHALL gave a report on the condition of the lake.  The lake now has a good 8in of ice.  Due to the many inquiries about a Poker Run, it was decided to have one next Saturday, Feb. 17th starting at BayView Pub. 

            RICH LEIS gave an update on the ATV Poker run.  The date will be April 28th , 2007 and it will start at the Town Tavern in Chickasaw.   It will be run on the same format as the last poker run.  He also would like to incorporate more activities making it more appealing to families.   A sign also was discussed to advertise the new club.   

            RICK FERGUSON updated everyone on the information regarding the ride in the Wayne National Forrest.  There are 2 campgrounds and a lodge.  �In the Woods� campground has close to 70 sites all with water and some with electric.  He has contacted a Park Ranger but has not heard back from him.  Anyone interested in this venture needs to contact Rick or an officer so we can get arrangements made.  Rick and Shelly will be on vacation the middle of June so we need to pick a feasible date.  A date will be set by the next meeting.

            JANE SNELLENBERGER gave a brief report on the Cruise being planned for sailing dates between February  24th and March 8th, 2008.  The proposed cruise will port out of Galveston, TX and will include stops at Montego Bay, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; & Cozumel, Mexico.  Rates will be available at the March meeting.  Anyone interested contact Jane.

 

            TRIP REPORTS: 

BOB BOLLENBACHER reported on the conditions at the Lakes of the North�Good Snow Conditions GENE PEASE reported that the conditions at Fife Lake hadn�t been too good but should be good by now. RODNEY RIDER reported his trip to the UP North of M-28 was great riding,  Plenty of snow.  South of M-28 was very marginal.

 

            ELECTION OF OFFICERS:  The March meeting is our Election of Officers meeting.  The positions that need to be filled are a Trustee and Vice President.

 

DITCH CLEAN-UP:  Tentative dates were set up:  April 29th, June 17th, August 25th and October ?.

 

NEW WEBSITE:   www.grandlakerec.org  Jane reported the new website is up and running.  If anyone has any suggestions for the site please contact her.

 

The name drawn for the Club drawing was new members Barb Barlage & Ed Waldman who were not present so the drawing at the next meeting will be $30.   The 50-50 drawing of $25 went to Rick Livingston.  Kari Stolzenburg  volunteered to bring food for the next meeting. 

 

The meeting was adjourned by President Tom Gottschall and the attending members enjoyed chili made by Gretchen Zimmerman.

JANUARY 21ST MEETING MINUTES

 

          The meeting of the Grand Lake Snow Dreamers held at the South Shore Sportsman�s Club, was brought to order by President Tom Gottschall.  Treasurer�s report was given by President Tom Gottschall in the absence of the treasurer, Tom Scheib.  The minutes from the last meeting were read by Secretary, Jane Snellenberger.  Both were approved.

 

New members were welcomed to the club, Barb Barlage & Ed Waldon; Cheryl Sheaks; John & Elaine (Toots) Sherrick; and Rick Livingston. 

 

          Flowers were sent and we wish the family of Mike (Chicken) Bertke our sympathies.  Chicken was a member and also has been a Trustee for the past 3 years. 

 

                President, Tom Gottschall, read the article that was submitted to the Franklin Twp newsletter.  Everyone agreed that we should also put it in the Lake Improvement News and submit an article to the OSSA magazine to promote the new club name change.  The new logo was approved by everyone along with the new Domain name for the new website.   www.grandlakerec.org.  It was suggested to create and print up flyers to pass out at the local establishments and to dealers.  Angie Leis informed the club that we could put a sign below the billboard at their former property on St Rte 127.

 

New ideas were discussed to add to the Hog Roast (June 9th) and the Corn Roast (August 25).  A golf outing will be added to the Hog Roast headed by Jeff Snellenberger and Ed Waldon will be grilling half chickens at the Corn Roast.  We also will incorporate a Croquet Tournament and bean bag tournament at the corn roast.  A By-U-Bash was discussed for a Pontoon tie-up behind the Big Chickasaw.  Dates were discussed but will be decided upon at a later date.

 

Also discussed was an ATV Ride In at the Wayne National Forrest.  Rick & Shelly Ferguson will bring more information and prices to the next meeting.  Rick has an ATV ride planned in Kentucky on Feb. 1st.  Anyone interested in going contact him. (937-596-6304)  Angie Leis informed the club that Rich would like to schedule another ATV Poker run on April 22nd. 

 

The name drawn for the Club drawing was new members John & Toots Sherrick who were not present so the drawing at the next meeting will be $20.   The 50-50 drawing of $23 went to Kari Stolzenburg.  A motion was made by Peggy Gottschall to have food at the meetings and it was seconded by Wayne Craig.  A limit of $50 was set and all voted YES to that!  Liz Leis and Gretchen Zimmerman volunteered to bring food for the next meeting.

 

The meeting was adjourned by President Tom Gottschall and the attending members enjoyed sandwiches and dip.
